This is going to be a short entry, because I just have a little something on my mind. Especially around Halloween, I start getting requests for theme or costume shots in my boudoir or glamour sessions. And while it’s usually a very cute idea, I’ll admit, I always cringe a little at the requests. You see, while I’m sure you look adorable in your beer wench, pirate, or naughty nurse get-up, it has a limited shelf-life. When we put together your gorgeous, heirloom-quality album of boudoir photos, I’d so rather see those pages filled with shots that are timeless and sexy rather than cute and I’m just going to say it, usually a little bit cheesy.
The truth is, most commercially produced Halloween costumes are cheaply made, ill-fitting, and just plain tacky. They almost never flatter a woman’s body, and while I’m sure your guy thinks you look super-sexy in your costume, I can almost 100% guarantee he’d go even more gaga over you in a soft fuzzy sweater and heels (with nothing else, natch). Or a gorgeous lace bra and panty set he picked out for you. Or a pair of black thigh-high boots, jean shorts, and a wife beater tank. Or that little black dress, unzipped and falling off of you seductively. Or a simple white sheet that covers “just enough”. Keep it simple, keep it sexy. And maybe just save the costumes for the Halloween parties and the bar crawls.
I’m sure you’ve all been holding your breath for the fake-looking, worse-than-they-need-to-be examples to illustrate my point. But even with cheesy costumes, I don’t take bad photos. 😉 No, I’m not going to show you examples of the costume shots I’m talking about. Because I’d much rather share a few examples of their elegant, beautiful, alluring alternative – just a few classic boudoir and glamour looks that will never look dated or goofy.
